I was raised in a Christian household and grew up celebrating all of the Christian holidays. I knew of Passover and had heard a little about it but never really knew any details. Then I met Maks who was raised in a predominately Jewish household. He spent Easter with my family and this week he and I have been celebrating Passover with his. It has been really nice to learn more about the traditions and customs surrounding the holiday. I think the most interesting part was last Sunday at the Seder ceremony. Traditionally it takes place at the dining room table and it's very elaborate. The Seder plate is always set in front of the head of household who generally conducts the Seder ceremony. Items typically found on the seder plate are things like: three whole Matzohs or unleavened "bread" (either on the plate or next to it), maror or bitter herbs, usually horseradish or romaine lettuce, charoses or special mixture of apples, nuts, wine and cinnamon symbolizing mortar, karpas or a vegetable, preferably parsley or celery, zeroah or a piece of roasted or boiled meat or poultry, preferably a shankbone, recalling the Paschal sacrifice of the original Exodus. Before the destruction of the Jerusalem Temple the Paschal sacrifice was the central feature of the Seder. Baytzah or a roasted or boiled egg, commemorating the festival sacrifice that was brought at the Jerusalem Temple. An egg is used because it is a traditional food for mourners, reminding us of the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem. I was just a bit tipsy by the end of the ceremony because at different times during it 4 3oz glasses of wine have to be consumed. I know that's not really a lot but I almost never drink.
Passover celebrations end tomorrow then Maks and I are flying out to LA for the Dancing with the Stars 100th episode special. Among many others he and Mel B from the Spice Girls who was his partner last season will be dancing together once again. Also Apolo Anton Ohno and Julianne Hough who won the 4th season will be back together to do a routine. 30 of the stars from all seasons will be back as well as many of the current and past pros from the show. I'm really looking forward to flaunting my diamond and making it VERY clear to Carrie Anne that Maks is off the market. |

I'm loving life right now let me tell you. Not too long ago I met the most amazing man and there was just this connection from the very beginning. I owe Lacey and Pasha a lot for their hand in me meeting Maks that's for sure. Well a little over a week ago we were in LA spending Easter with my family. Easter morning after the traditional breakfast of my "famous" pancakes Maks and I went back to the room we were sharing and he proposed to me. He had asked my dad for his blessing and my dad gave it to him as also a family heirloom ring to use. The proposal was so sweet and really a moment I'll never forget for as long as I live.
Here's a little questionnaire to let you know a few other things about me:
1. Who is your very best friend?
I don't just have one but first there's my fiancee Maks. He's absolutely amazing and I can't imagine my life without him. Then there are of course Benji, Alli and the rest of the top 10 from my season of SYTYCD. I love them all in different ways and over the course of the show and tour they became very important people in my life. 2. Do you have friends that you secretly dislike?
NO WAY!
3. What makes a good friend to you?
Someone that would stick by you through thick and thin.
4. Is there a secret you've never told any of your friends?
there was one but I finally told them
5. Who was your first love?
my asshole ex
6. Has anyone ever broken your heart?
yes same person as above.
7. Is love a good thing, a bad thing, or both?
with the right person a good thing.
8. Have you ever told someone you loved them and didn't mean it?
I would never do that.
9. How far would you go on a first date?
uhh depends
10. Have you ever had a one-night stand?
no
11. Have you ever done any drugs?
no because I'm a dancer
12. What's the most alcohol you've ever consumed at once?
don't drink |

I've been a dancer for as long as I can remember but at the same time i've never had the perfect size zero body either. I'm big boned and i've got a butt. I'd go to auditions and more often than not i'd be told "You're by far the best dancer in the room but you don't have the body type we're looking for." Most of the time they want the thin girls with the perfect bodies. I'd have to sit back and watch girls that are less talented dancers get the job because they have the "body type" the people are looking for. Don't get me wrong i'm not stuck on myself and think i'm all that by any means. I'm actually one of the most down to earth people you will ever meet. How would feel if you were told that audition, after audition, after audition? After awhile it starts messing with your head. Sure i've booked a few of the jobs i've gone out for. I've earned spots in videos for the Black Eyed Peas and Missy Elliott, i've toured with Snoop Dogg and The Game, I was a featured dancer in the movie "Be Cool", and I won my dance off on the TV show Dance 360.
Honestly though i'd have to say that my biggest accomplishment to date would be coming in third place, behind two of my best friends, on So You Think You Can Dance. Benji Schwimmer, who as a lot of you probably already know won the show, was my dance partner for the first half of the show and we danced together a few times after that. On the show most of the girls were skinny and toned and honestly I was a bit self-conscious. Thanks to everyone else on the show, with the exception of two but I wont go into that, I became more confident as the show progressed. Benji especially helped me see that I may be a size 12 but i'm still beautiful I'll always be grateful to him for that. Love you Geegee |
